Who is J&L?

J&L Heating and Cooling is owned & operated by Chelsea local Jeff Koch & his wife Laura. While J&L opened its doors in early 2021, the journey began in the mid 1990's with Jeff's dad Brian Koch. While working full time at Chrysler Chelsea Proving Grounds, Brian ran a heating and cooling business right here in Chelsea until his passing in 2013. Every day after school, Jeff would put on his work clothes and tag along with his dad to multiple service calls for people in the community without heat in the winter or air conditioning in the summer. Learning more and more each day, Jeff was always quick to tell customers, "Who wants to work this much? I never have any time to play with my toys!" His dad's love of the trade was what eventually led Jeff to the State of Michigan to obtain his HVAC Contractors license. After eventually having to sell his dad's business, he went to work for the company that bought the business so that he could continue to help those same customers. After taking a few years off, the call of the trade was strong. Longing for the sense of community he felt working with his dad brought Jeff to ask his wife, "What do you think about starting a business?"

What sets us apart from other 'big box' companies is that we are 100% owner operated. Every time you call us, you will be speaking with either Jeff or Laura. We will be on every job and will work directly with you to guide you through your new furnace, air conditioner, water heater or home purification system. Our goal is to make sure that each homeowner we work with understands what they are getting when they call J&L, whether it is our first visit to your home or we have been servicing your HVAC system for years.
